FEBRUARY

What I like best about Valentine's Day....

getting Valentine cards, making Valentine cards, candy, Secret Admirer baskets left on your door, LOVE, sharing, putting up Valentine decorations, decorating Valentine's Day boxes, eating Conversation Heart candy, making paper hearts, HUGS & KISSES, XOXO, getting a treat from my parents, eating a RED dinner, heart shaped pizza, making "heart" shaped cookies, getting a stuffed Valentine bear, pink and red M & Ms, and giving my mom flowers.

Current Happenings:

Social Studies:    We are learning about Arctic/Polar animals and how their habitats are alike and different.  Each of us will be doing a small report and diorama on a Polar Animal of our choice.
We also continue to learn about map skills and our Community.

Math:  We are working on Chapter 14, Time and Money.  We are  identifying different coins and dollars, understanding their value and adding on with money.  In addition, we will be working with "analog" clocks and learning to tell time to the nearest quarter hour.  Mrs. Feeley's math group is working on the same math skills, just at a higher level.  Our next chapter will cover fractions. Mrs. White's classroom loves MATH!

Reading:  We justed started a new "Magic Tree House" book....Eve of  the Emperor Penguin.  Jack and Annie continue their quest in search of "happiness!"  They  have traveled to a sub-zero and barren place  that is rarely visit, except by penguins.  Will the Emperor Penguins be able to help Jack and Annie?  Waddle along with us, as Jack and Annie lead us on another exciting adventure in Antarctica!

Reading is so much fun!  Please remember to listen to your child read out loud each evening.
Be sure to model reading for your child too!
