What I love best about Spring...
seeing
all the pretty flowers, watching all the trees bud, celebrating
Mother's Day, spending time outdoors in the warm weather, seeing all
the butterflies, watching NBA playoffs, celebrating May Day, watching
the flowers blooming, watching ladybugs crawl across leaves, smelling
lilacs, planting your garden, eating the chives we planted, taking bike
rides my mom and brothers, and looking at all the colorful flowers!
Current Happenings:
Social Studies:
We are learning about our "fifty nifty" states. Each
student has selected a state to explore. They will learn about
their state's capital, land forms, lakes and rivers, what states border
their state, who the governor of their state is, what products are
produced and all of their state's symbols. They will get to
design a poster board to share also. Details to follow.
Math:
We are working on Chapter 18, Weight, Capacity, and Termperature.
We are using thermometers to check our outdoor temperature.
Is it warm outside at 10 degrees Celsius? We were
introduced to "Gallon Man," thanks to Oliver and Stella Blumenstein.
He taught us how many cups were in a pint, how many pints were in
a quart, and how many quarts were in a gallon. Mrs. Feeley's
math group has moved on to multiplication and division facts. Our
next chapter will cover place value to 1,000. Mrs.
White's
classroom loves MATH!
Reading:
We are in Florence, Italy with Jack and Annie. Jack and
Annie will work along side Leonardo Da' Vinci as his apprentices in,
"Magic Tree House" book....Monday with a Mad Genius."
Leonardo is a famous and amazing man! He is known for his
great work in art and science. He did a bit of everything...
inventor, costume and stage designer, botanist, geologist, architect,
sculpurer, painter, horseman, and chef. What will Jack and Annie
learn from Leonardo? Follow along on our mission to save Merlin
from his sorrows!
Reading is so much fun! Please remember to listen to
your child read out loud each
evening. Be sure to model reading for your child too!
