SPELLER'S CHOICE!

You must do one "speller's choice" activity each night in order to prepare for your spelling test on Friday. The best part is the activities you choose to complete are YOUR choice!  Now you are ready to get to work.

1.  ABC order - Write your spelling words in alphabetical order.  Underline the first letter of each word in your favorite color.

2.  Rainbow words - Write your spelling words in pencil first and then trace them in rainbow colors.  (No black!)

3.  Cheer your words - Pretend you are a cheerleader and cheer out your spelling words correctly.  You may do this to an older sibling or an adult.  Write this in your agenda and have someone sign their name that they listened to you cheer.  Gooooo S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G!

4.  Super Sentences - Write each of your spelling words in a complete sentence.  You must use 5 or more words in each sentence and underline your spelling words NEATLY!

5.  Ransom Reporter - Search for your spelling words in the newspaper or magazine.  Cut out the words and paste them onto your spelling sheet.

6.  Pyramid words - Write your words adding one letter at a time.  The result will be a pyramid shape of words.
Example:  star
s
st
sta
star

7.  Computer Creation - Use your computer to type your spelling words.  Use different fonts, colors, sizes, or add a clip art to make it look really fun!  Be sure to print it out and bring to school.  Or you can email me your list if you want! Debra.white@boiseschools.org

8.  Spelling City - Go to the website: www.spellingcity.com and click "Find a List" at the top.  Then, click on "username" and type in "whiteclassroom."  Then, select the unit and week that we are working on.  You can do as many different activities each week from Spelling City as you choose.  Write this in your agenda as your choice and have someone sign it, to say you did your words on Spelling City!

9.  Write a letter - Write a letter to a classmate or your teacher using all of your spelling words in the body of the letter.  Please underline your spelling words.

10.  Pictionary - Illustrate and color each of your spelling words on the appropriate pages.  Write your spelling word below each picture.  No stick figures!

11.  Spelling Cars - Write your spelling words on each car.  Then circle the vowels and underline the consonants.

12.  Backwards/Forwards - Write each of your spelling words forward first.  Then rewrite them backward.

13.  Telephone Words - Translate your spelling words into numbers from a telephone keypad.  Please use sheet provided.

14.  Etch-A-Word - Use an Etch-A-Sketch to practice writing your spelling words.  Write this in your agenda and have a parent sign that you did this activity.

15.  Secret Agent - Number the alphabet from 1 to 26, then convert your spelling words to a number code.  You may assign any letter to any number.  Be creative!

16.  Buggy Spelling - Write a spelling word on the line below each bug.  count the vowels, then draw and color one spot on the bug for each vowel.

17.  Spelling Chain - Write a spelling word on each chain strip.  Cut apart the strips.  Paste them to make a chain.

18.  Code Breakers - Write the alphabet at the top of your paper in the correct boxes.  Under each letter, create a symbol for that letter.  Then using your new code, rewrite each of your spelling words.  (Example:  STAR  *=+#)

More to follow....

*Special Spelling Sheet is required.  Soon, this will be a down option so you can print at home. :)
